Meknes – Moroccan youth international Abdellah Ouazane scored his first official goal for Ajax’s senior team on Sunday.
The teenager struck in the second round of the Eredivisie, though the Dutch giants were ultimately held to a 2-2 draw at home by Heerenveen.
Starting the match, the 17-year-old doubled Ajax’s lead in the 33rd minute with a brilliant long-range shot into the top corner.
Ouazane’s strike built on an early advantage for Ajax, coming after Heerenveen goalkeeper Bernt Klaverboer scored an own goal just seven minutes in.
Heerenveen fought back, cutting the deficit just before halftime through Jacob Trenskow before substitute Maxence Rivera netted an 82nd-minute equalizer.
The comeback ruined Ajax’s celebrations, denying the hosts a win on the day they marked the 30th anniversary of the Johan Cruijff Arena.
Making his second consecutive start, the Moroccan international earned a spot in the lineup thanks to the manager’s growing trust in his abilities.
Ouazane rewarded that faith on the pitch, delivering a strong performance capped off by a memorable first senior goal.
The Moroccan midfielder developed through Ajax’s youth academy starting in 2016, and after a potential transfer to Real Madrid collapsed in the summer of 2025, he recommitted to the Dutch side by signing a professional contract through 2028.
Following standout performances with Jong Ajax and impressive displays during pre-season, the technical staff integrated the 17-year-old attacking talent directly into the first-team squad for the 2026–27 campaign.
Having already opened his senior account, Ouazane looks set for a standout breakout campaign as he continues to cement his place in Ajax’s first team.
