Casablanca – The professional association Justicia Guardia Civil (Jucil) filed a complaint with the National Court over a nearly 500-page document containing personal data on Guardia Civil officers, National Police officers, and members of the Armed Forces.
Jucil wants investigators to establish who obtained the information, where it came from, who took part in compiling the document, who distributed it and what purpose was behind the mass collection of data.
The association is also seeking possible criminal liability over the leak. It has asked the court to order urgent measures to remove or block the file wherever possible and to preserve the digital evidence needed to identify those responsible.
Jucil said the information in the file can be used to identify, locate or contact members of the security forces and Armed Forces. It has asked authorities to assess the risk posed by the dissemination of the information to both the affected personnel and their families.
According to the association, the file could facilitate efforts to locate or monitor individuals, as well as social engineering, intimidation or the selection of targets.
Jucil is also asking investigators to determine the origin of specific information contained in the document and establish whether there was unauthorized access to systems, devices, accounts or databases.
The association wants authorities to examine the full chain of events behind the file, from the collection of the information to its compilation, publication and distribution through different channels.
Jucil Secretary General Ángel Lezcano called for specialized police units to be involved in the investigation. He also requested that available information on Telegram be preserved and that authorities identify everyone who may have been involved in obtaining, compiling or distributing the file.
Lezcano said Jucil wants institutions to use all available legal measures when there may be a risk to officers. The association said the security and privacy of Guardia Civil personnel and their families should not be left exposed online.
