Agadir – A heatwave is expected to sweep across several provinces of Morocco from Tuesday through Friday, with temperatures forecast to reach as high as 45°C, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
The DGM issued an orange-level weather alert warning of temperatures ranging between 42°C and 45°C in the provinces of Aousserd, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, and Zagora from Tuesday to Friday.
The heatwave is expected to intensify across additional parts of the country starting Wednesday.
Temperatures ranging between 38°C and 42°C are forecast from Wednesday through Friday in Marrakech, Rehamna, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Taroudant, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Settat, El Kelaa Sraghna, Khemisset, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, Khenifra, Fes, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Larache, Ouezzane, Chichaoua, and Sale.
The alert comes as Morocco continues to experience periods of elevated temperatures during the summer season, with authorities regularly urging residents to take precautions during periods of extreme heat.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain attentive to official weather updates and take necessary precautions, particularly during the hottest hours of the day.
