Rabat – Maghreb de Fès marked its return to the CAF Champions League with a convincing 4-1 victory over Burkina Faso’s Rahimo on Sunday in the first leg of the competition’s preliminary round.
Playing in front of their home supporters, the Fez-based side took control early and opened the scoring in the seventh minute through Brika.
MAS continued to dictate the game and doubled its advantage deep into the first half, with Allouch finding the net in stoppage time to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at the break.
Rahimo managed to reduce the deficit in the 59th minute, briefly giving the visitors hope of mounting a comeback.
However, MAS quickly restored its control and continued to threaten the Burkinabe defense.
The hosts eventually found a third goal in the 72nd minute through Titus before Ibayi added another four minutes later to complete the scoring.
The final whistle confirmed a 4-1 victory for MAS, putting the Moroccan side in a strong position ahead of the return fixture.
The result gives MAS a significant advantage heading into the second leg, which will be played in Burkina Faso on September 12.
The Fez side will now look to protect its three-goal cushion on the road and secure its progression to the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
