Marrakech – Tesla is preparing to bring its Grok voice assistant to Morocco, tying the feature to a software update that has not yet reached the public.
The company’s official EMEA account announced earlier last week that Grok was rolling out across the Middle East and Morocco, though it named neither individual countries nor a software version at the time.
Additional detail came from updated Tesla support pages, first reported by the outlet Not a Tesla App, which reference update 2026.32.6 as a prerequisite. Those regional pages list Israel, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, while Morocco appeared in the broader EMEA announcement.

The update has not been released, but Tesla expects it to reach vehicles within roughly a week. To run Grok, an eligible car needs an AMD Ryzen infotainment processor and either an active Premium Connectivity subscription or a Wi-Fi connection. Owners do not need a separate Grok account for the in-car assistant.
Once installed, drivers can open Grok through the App Launcher, the steering-wheel microphone button, or the “Hey Grok” wake phrase. In Assistant mode, it handles navigation, phone calls, media playback, and climate adjustments, and it answers questions using the digital owner’s manual. It can also set location-based reminders.
Tesla’s EMEA account described a system that draws on real-time information, manages navigation by adding stops or editing routes, and suggests nearby points of interest, across multiple languages. Recent owner’s-manual updates point to a future ability to compose and send text messages by voice, though Tesla has not confirmed timing or the software build.
One limit is clear: Grok does not drive the car. It operates the infotainment and vehicle-control system, separate from Autopilot and Full Self-Driving.
Grok itself did not begin as a Tesla product. It was built by xAI, Elon Musk’s AI company, which announced it on November 3, 2023, as an assistant meant to answer almost any question and to draw on real-time information from X.
The system has since expanded to research, writing, coding, and the analysis of PDFs, images, and spreadsheets, along with voice and image generation. xAI has warned that live information does not prevent incorrect answers.
Tesla first placed Grok in its cars in July 2025 through the 2025.26 over-the-air update, then broadened the assistant’s vehicle controls through late 2025 and into 2026. The Morocco expansion adds to a footprint that already covers North America, Europe, and parts of Asia.
The rollout follows Tesla’s official market entry on February 6, its first physical presence on the African continent. The company opened a pop-up store at Anfaplace Mall in Casablanca and began taking orders for the Model 3 and Model Y, with deliveries scheduled between July and September.
Tesla also opened 24 Supercharger stalls in Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Rabat, and Tangier.
