Rabat – Princess Lalla Meryem presided over a religious vigil at Assouna Mosque in Rabat on Monday to commemorate the 28th anniversary of the death of Morocco’s late King Hassan II.
The ceremony featured Quranic recitations and praises of Prophet Mohammed.
Those attending the vigil offered prayers for the souls of King Hassan II and the late King Mohammed V, asking God to grant the two monarchs His mercy.
Prayers were also offered for King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s King and Commander of the Faithful, asking God to guide his steps and grant success to his actions and initiatives.
The prayers also invoked blessings for Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and members of the Royal Family.
Upon her arrival at Assouna Mosque, Princess Lalla Meryem reviewed a detachment of the Auxiliary Forces that performed the honors.
She was then greeted by Mohamed Yacoubi, Wali of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region and governor of Rabat Prefecture; Fatiha El Moudni, president of the Rabat Municipal Council; Khettar El Mojahidi, director of National Mutual Aid; and Driss Razzi, president of the Hassan District Council.
