Rabat – Dutch giants Ajax have reportedly joined the race for Moroccan midfielder Ilyas Houira, who has attracted interest from several major European clubs despite being only 15 years old.
According to Danish sports outlet Tipsbladet, Ajax are monitoring the young midfielder, but face competition from several clubs across Europe.
Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona are reportedly following Houira closely. Scouts from some of these clubs have already traveled to Denmark to watch the teenager in person.
The Danish report also said clubs from Spain and France have expressed interest in the midfielder, highlighting the growing attention around the young talent.
Houira currently plays for FC Copenhagen after joining the Danish club from AGF earlier this year. He signed a three-year contract that runs until the summer of 2029.
The midfielder’s development has also attracted attention at the international level.
Although Houira has Danish nationality, he also holds a Moroccan one and has represented Morocco at the youth level.
The teenager made his debut for Morocco’s U-16 team last summer before receiving a call-up to the Morocco U-17 squad.
At just 15, Houira remains at an early stage of his career; and there is no indication that a move to any of the interested European clubs is imminent.
For now, Ajax and the other clubs are reportedly monitoring him and will continue to follow his development as he progresses through the youth ranks at Copenhagen.
