Agadir – Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed Wednesday that a Moroccan woman was among two people killed in a Houthi attack targeting Abha International Airport.
The aviation authority also announced that Abha and King Khalid international airports came under attack on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 6 and 7, 2026.
“The attacks targeted facilities at both airports, and emergency teams and relevant authorities immediately responded in accordance with approved procedures and plans,” the press release said.
The authority confirmed the attack on Abha International Airport resulted in the deaths of two female residents of Moroccan and Algerian nationalities.
The attack also caused injuries among 28 citizens and residents, including two Bangladeshi and Filipino nationals.
“Their injuries ranged from minor to serious,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of a Sudanese resident, and injured eight people, including five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and a Pakistani resident.
Their injuries ranged from minor to serious.
The aviation authority said all those injured were immediately transferred to hospital to receive the necessary medical care. The two attacks also caused some material damage.
“The Authority is working in continuous coordination with the relevant security authorities to assess the damage, take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and workers, and maintain the security and safety of the Kingdom’s civil aviation system,” it concluded.
Several countries have condemned the ongoing Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, which Saudi authorities said today included another ballistic missile targeting the area north of Riyadh.
Yemen, Syria, and the UAE have all renewed their condemnation of the continued Houthi attacks and warned against further escalation.
The UAE, for example, condemned the continued targeting of Saudi civilians and civilian and economic facilities.
In September, King Mohammed VI also renewed Morocco’s condemnation of Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including attempts to target the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
He reaffirmed Morocco’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and condemned attacks on civilian and economic facilities, cities, and populated areas.
