Rabat – Moroccan international Yassir Zabiri played a pivotal role in Racing Santander’s 2–2 home draw against Valencia on Sunday evening.
The young forward’s contribution proved crucial as the two sides shared the points in La Liga matchday eight clash.
Valencia took an early lead just two minutes through Dani Raba, but starting forward Zabiri brought his team back level in the 32nd minute.
The equalizer marked the Moroccan striker’s seventh goal in just eight La Liga appearances this season.
Racing Santander completed the turnaround shortly after halftime when Ivan Martin scored in the 47th minute to turn the scoreline in Racing Santander’s favor.
Valencia responded mid-way through the half, with David Otorbi scoring in the 65th minute to seal the 2–2 draw.
Leading Racing Santander with seven goals across eight matchdays, Zabiri sits near the top of the La Liga scoring charts, right behind Barcelona’s Raphinha.
The Moroccan forward was named La Liga U23 Player of the Month for September after a standout run with Racing Santander.
The young striker earned the award by scoring three goals during the month.
Through eight matchdays in La Liga, Racing Santander sit 15th in the standings with eight points (2 wins, 2 draws, and 4 losses).
Their 2–2 draw against Valencia keeps them three points clear of the relegation zone.
