Rabat – Mor2occan goalkeeper Adam Mouak has received a call-up to Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) first-team squad for Wednesday evening’s UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
PSG head coach Luis Enrique included the 17-year-old goalkeeper in his 23-man squad for the second matchday of the Champions League league phase, marking another important step in the young Moroccan’s career.
Mouak will serve as PSG’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Russian international Matvey Safonov and French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
The young goalkeeper, who has developed within PSG’s academy since childhood, joins the senior squad alongside fellow Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi.
His inclusion follows the continued absence of Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni, who has been sidelined for several weeks due to injury.
A promising Moroccan talent
Mouak’s latest call-up reflects his progress through PSG’s youth system, where he continues to develop while representing Morocco at international youth level.
The goalkeeper previously received invitations to join Morocco’s U-17 national team for training camps and friendly matches.
More recently, he represented Morocco’s U-18 team during an international tournament held in Spain in September, as part of the squad’s preparations for upcoming international competitions.
His inclusion in PSG’s Champions League squad offers him an opportunity to gain experience alongside established international players and become more familiar with the demands of senior European football.
Although Mouak is unlikely to feature against Manchester City, his presence in the traveling squad represents another step toward a potential first-team debut.
PSG prepares for major European test
PSG enter Wednesday’s encounter hoping to maintain their strong start to the Champions League campaign.
The Parisian club opened its European title defense with an impressive 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava, securing three points and establishing an early advantage in the league-phase standings.
Luis Enrique’s side will also welcome back Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes, who were rested during the previous weekend.
However, midfielder Senny Mayulu will miss the trip to Manchester due to a thigh injury.
The encounter against Manchester City represents an important challenge for PSG, who will look to strengthen their position at the top of the standings.
Following Wednesday’s match, the French champions will return to Paris to face Barcelona at home next week in another major European fixture.
