Rabat – Real Madrid have formally called for Javier Tebas to resign as president of LaLiga and vice president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) following his controversial comparison between the club’s media strategy and Nazi-era propaganda.
The Spanish club issued an official statement today, strongly condemning remarks made by Tebas in which he compared the methods used by Real Madrid’s leadership to those associated with Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s propaganda minister.

Tebas had accused Real Madrid TV of using a strategy based on repeatedly presenting incidents that favor the club’s narrative, creating a sense of grievance and portraying Madrid as a victim.
He said the methods were reminiscent of Goebbels’ propaganda techniques, while clarifying that his comparison concerned propaganda methods rather than Nazi ideology.
Real Madrid calls remarks ‘intolerable’
Real Madrid described the comparison as “absolutely intolerable” and “extraordinarily serious,” arguing that Tebas’ clarification did not lessen what the club described as the offensive nature of his comments.
The club said the remarks represented another episode in what it views as repeated attacks by Tebas against Real Madrid, its president, and its media outlets.
Madrid also accused the LaLiga chief of lacking the neutrality and impartiality required by his institutional positions.
“His repeated conduct reveals a lack of neutrality, respect and impartiality incompatible with his institutional responsibilities,” the club said in its statement.
Real Madrid consequently demanded Tebas’ “immediate resignation” from both his position as LaLiga president and his role as RFEF vice president.
Negreira case adds to tensions
The dispute also brought renewed attention to the Negreira case, with Real Madrid criticizing Tebas for questioning the club’s actions regarding the long-running controversy.
Madrid said it had approached UEFA directly to seek full clarification over payments made by Barcelona for years to companies linked to former refereeing official Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.
The club also renewed its call for a comprehensive reform of Spain’s refereeing system and football governance structures.
Real Madrid concluded that it would continue defending its rights and institutional reputation while seeking full clarification of the Negreira case and reforms within Spanish football.
The latest exchange marks another escalation in the increasingly tense relationship between Real Madrid and Tebas, with disagreements in recent years covering refereeing, competition governance, scheduling, and the club’s public criticism of Spanish football authorities.
