The new cabinet brings together ministers and women ministers who will oversee the country’s different government sectors. The appointment followed weeks of consultations after the king named El Mansouri head of government on September 29 and tasked her with forming a new cabinet.
Earlier today, El Mansouri also held a handover ceremony with outgoing Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch at the head of government’s headquarters in Rabat. The two reviewed key strategic files and ongoing projects, including social programs, economic development initiatives and efforts to improve public administration.
They also stressed the need to maintain the pace of work and coordinate government action in line with the king’s directives, according to an official statement.
King Mohammed VI appointed the new cabinet yesterday. The new government follows the September 23 legislative elections and a coalition agreement involving the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), the Istiqlal Party, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) and the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS).
El Mansouri will present the government’s program before a joint plenary session of both chambers of Parliament on Monday at 3 p.m. Parliament will then debate the program, and the House of Representatives must approve it by an absolute majority for the government to secure its formal investiture.
