Rabat – FC Barcelona will be without key defenders Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona confirmed both injuries on Sunday following Saturday’s 5-2 win over Real Betis.
Garcia faces three to four weeks out with a right thigh injury and will miss Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.
“A couple of setbacks for FC Barcelona. First team player Eric Garcia has a right thigh injury and his recovery time is estimated at three to four weeks,” Barcelona confirmed in an official statement on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Kounde’s availability for Sunday’s fixture against Real Madrid remains uncertain. The Catalan club are closely monitoring his recovery ahead of the El Clasico at the Camp Nou.
“First team player Jules Kounde has a left ankle sprain and will miss the PSG game. His evolution will determine his availability for the Clásico against Real Madrid on 25 October,” the club added.
Gerard Martin, who left the Betis match at halftime after a blow to his heel, is expected to be available to face Paris Saint-Germain.
While the win gave the team three valuable points in LaLiga, Hansi Flick now faces a tough challenge managing a depleted defense in the key matches ahead.
