The High Commission for Planning (HCP).

Agadir – Morocco’s tourism sector generated MAD 129.7 billion ($13.2 billion) in gross domestic product (GDP) in 2025, up from MAD 116.2 billion ($11.9 billion) a year earlier, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

The sector accounted for 7.5% of Morocco’s national GDP in 2025, compared with 7.2% in 2024, the HCP said in its Tourism Satellite Account report published today.

The report also showed that domestic tourism consumption reached MAD 222.4 billion ($22.7 billion) in 2025, marking a 10.3% increase from MAD 201.7 billion ($20.6 billion) in 2024.

Inbound tourism drove much of this growth, with consumption rising 12.5% to MAD 154 billion ($15.7 billion), up from MAD 136.9 billion ($14.0 billion) in 2024.

Meanwhile, consumption linked to domestic and outbound tourism increased by 5.5%, reaching MAD 68.4 billion ($7.0 billion) in 2025, compared with MAD 64.8 billion ($6.6 billion) a year earlier.

Inbound tourism represented 69.2% of total domestic tourism consumption in 2025, up from 67.9% in 2024. The share of domestic and outbound tourism fell from 32.1% to 30.8% over the same period.

Tourism output and value added increase

The HCP report also recorded growth in the sector’s overall production and value added in 2025.

Tourism output reached MAD 199.4 billion ($20.3 billion), an increase of 9.6% from MAD 181.9 billion ($18.6 billion) in 2024.

The sector’s value added rose by 10.8% to MAD 106.8 billion ($10.9 billion), compared with MAD 96.4 billion ($9.8 billion) the previous year.

Net taxes on tourism products, after subsidies, increased by 16% to MAD 23 billion ($2.3 billion) in 2025, up from MAD 19.8 billion ($2.0 billion) in 2024.

These developments contributed to the 11.7% increase in tourism GDP, bringing its total value to MAD 129.7 billion ($13.2 billion).

The report further showed that tourism value added accounted for 7% of the national economy’s total value added in 2025, compared with 6.7% in 2024. Tourism output’s share of national production also increased from 6.8% to 7.1%.

Tourism value added as a share of national GDP rose from 6% in 2024 to 6.2% in 2025.
