Casablanca – The value of EU exports of liquefied butane to Morocco reached €182.4 million between January and August 2026, up 10.9% from €164.5 million during the same period in 2025, according to Eurostat data.
However, the volume of shipments fell by 11.4%, from approximately 413,329 tonnes in the first eight months of 2025 to 366,037 tonnes in the same period this year.
The figures come from Eurostat’s EU trade database, which records monthly exports by product and trading partner. The data covers liquefied butanes, excluding products with a purity of at least 95% of N-butane or isobutane.
The divergence between the value and volume figures means that the EU recorded higher export earnings from a smaller quantity of the product during the period. The figures alone do not establish the reasons behind the change.
In 2025, the value of EU exports to Morocco increased from €12.3 million in January to €32.3 million in August. Monthly export values varied throughout the eight-month period, with April reaching €21.2 million and July rising to €24.8 million.
Monthly exports fluctuate in 2026
The monthly figures for 2026 show further changes in the value of shipments. EU exports to Morocco reached €18.2 million in January, before falling to €10.1 million in February.
The value then rose to €16.4 million in March and €32.9 million in April. May recorded the highest monthly figure in the period, at €35.7 million, followed by €30.8 million in June.
Exports fell to €26 million in July and dropped sharply to €12.3 million in August.
The latest monthly figures also show a substantial decline in export volumes toward the end of the period. EU shipments amounted to approximately 600,269 tonnes in April and 592,556 tonnes in May, before reaching 719,319 tonnes in June.
Volumes then fell to around 560,077 tonnes in July and 281,941 tonnes in August, according to the dataset.
Despite the monthly fluctuations, the cumulative figures for January through August show that the EU exported more than €182 million worth of the covered butane products to Morocco, compared with €164 million a year earlier.
