Rabat – Real Madrid continued their perfect Champions League start with a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
Jose Mourinho’s side secured their third consecutive European win, bringing their total to nine points from three league-phase matches.
The Spanish giants entered the match following victories over Inter Milan and Roma, looking to maintain their winning run before Sunday’s highly anticipated El Clasico against Barcelona.
Leipzig made a strong start, creating several opportunities and forcing goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois into important saves.
However, Madrid broke the deadlock in the 44th minute when Bernardo Silva reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area following an attempt from Arda Guler.
The Portuguese midfielder finished from close range to give Madrid a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Jude Bellingham delivered a cross into the penalty area, where Mbappe directed a header toward goal before Guler applied the final touch from close range.
The goal was initially the subject of some confusion, but UEFA credited it to the Turkish international, whose touch came before the ball crossed the line.
With Leipzig struggling to regain control, Madrid continued creating opportunities through Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Bellingham.
The French forward eventually added Madrid’s third goal in the 83rd minute, producing a powerful strike into the top corner.
Leipzig responded two minutes later through Tidiam Gomis, who took advantage of a defensive opening to reduce the deficit to 3-1.
However, substitute Yan Diomande restored Madrid’s three-goal advantage in the 87th minute.
The Ivorian winger connected with a pass from Moroccan international Brahim Diaz and fired a first-time volley into the top corner, completing the 4-1 victory against his former club.
Real Madrid prepare for El Clasico
The result marks Real Madrid’s third consecutive Champions League victory, following their 2-1 win over Inter Milan and dramatic 4-3 comeback against Roma.
Mourinho’s side have now scored 10 goals in their opening three European matches while conceding five.
Madrid will turn their attention to LaLiga, where they face rivals Barcelona on Sunday in one of the season’s most anticipated encounters.
Their next Champions League fixture is scheduled for November 4, when they travel to Greece to face AEK Athens.
