Morocco Police Arrest Two Suspects in Marrakech Fraud Case

Casablanca – An investigating judge at the Agadir Court of Appeal ordered the detention of three individuals on Sunday over an incident in which a driver struck a police officer while he was performing his duties, nearly costing him his life.

The judge issued the order following preliminary questioning of the three suspects, as judicial proceedings continue, according to a statement from the King’s Prosecutor at the Agadir Court of Appeal.

The driver and two individuals who accompanied him appeared before the investigating judge earlier on Sunday. The public prosecutor requested an investigation into all three suspects and called for their detention.

The prosecutor charged the driver with attempted premeditated murder, public intoxication, driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing the scene of a traffic accident, and refusing to comply with police orders.

The second suspect faces charges of complicity in attempted premeditated murder, public intoxication, providing a false identity to prevent the registration of a criminal conviction in his record, and facilitating another person’s drug use.

The third individual faces charges of complicity in attempted premeditated murder and public intoxication.

The prosecutor submitted the requests for investigation and detention before the three suspects appeared for preliminary questioning.

Following the hearing, the investigating judge ordered all three individuals into custody pending further judicial proceedings.

The case concerns an incident in Agadir in which a police officer was struck by a vehicle while carrying out his professional duties. The prosecutor’s statement described the incident as one that nearly cost the officer his life.

The investigation will proceed under the charges requested by the public prosecutor, while the three suspects remain in detention.
