Rabat – Moroccan Jewish writer Nicole Elgrissy has released her latest book on Moroccan women, entitled Dames de Coeur sur le Carreau.
The book reflects the lifestyle of Moroccan Jewish and Muslim women coexisting in harmony and creating a peaceful world for both communities. It highlights the social values that characterize Morocco, including solidarity, sociability, tolerance, and cohabitation.
Throughout this masterpiece dedicated to Moroccan women, the reader will have the chance to explore the lifestyle of these communities, their mindset, and their struggle for freedom and equality.
Elgrissy mixes feelings of sorrow, joy, and despair in her writing. The book analyzes the lives of these women with its joyful and sad moments, and reflects the characters’ standpoints vis à vis the current situation in present-day Morocco. Throughout her book, Elgrissy proclaims her pride in her Moroccan roots and her pride in Moroccan women, with whom she shared her life’s most important moments.
The 124-page book is in now available in Moroccan bookstores for only MAD 120.
Born on September 23, 1958 in Casablanca, Nicole Elgrissy has long been writing about the historical friendship between Moroccan Jews and Muslims and the harmony and peace that have reigned in the two communities for so long.
El Grissy is also the author of the book entitled La Renaicendre, in which she praised her Moroccan origins and described her life in Morocco with the Muslim community. She also wrote the play El Banka Fel Amaria, as well as Bghit Naaraf (“I want to know”), an educational program on the Moroccan television channel 2M.
