Recent form

England opened their World Cup campaign with an impressive 4-2 victory over Croatia, with their attacking players showing their quality. The Three Lions currently sit on three points and know that another win would put them in a strong position to secure qualification for the round of 32.

Tuchel commended his team’s attacking display after the opener but stressed the importance of maintaining defensive discipline against a dangerous Ghana side.

Key players

Harry Kane remains England’s biggest attacking threat and captain. Jude Bellingham provides creativity and energy in midfield, while Bukayo Saka offers pace and directness from wide areas. Declan Rice continues to be crucial in controlling the tempo and protecting the back line.

Likely XI

Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guehi, Shaw; Rice, Bellingham; Saka, Palmer, Gordon; Kane.

Ghana team news

Injuries/Suspensions

Ghana have no major injury concerns or suspensions ahead of the encounter. Otto Addo is expected to stick with the core of the team that secured victory over Panama.

Recent form

The Black Stars began their World Cup campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Panama, collecting three points. Ghana impressed with their organization and defensive discipline, and another positive result against England would significantly boost their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.

Otto Addo believes his players have the quality and confidence needed to challenge one of the tournament favorites.

Key players

Mohammed Kudus remains Ghana’s most dangerous attacking player thanks to his dribbling ability and creativity. Antoine Semenyo provides pace and physicality in attack, while Thomas Partey brings experience and composure to the midfield. Mohammed Salisu continues to lead the defense.

Likely XI

Ati-Zigi; Lamptey, Djiku, Salisu, Mensah; Partey, Abdul Samed; Paintsil, Kudus, Nuamah; Semenyo.

What to expect

England is expected to dominate possession and dictate the tempo with their superior depth and technical quality. Tuchel’s side will look to create chances through quick passing and movement in the final third.

Ghana, meanwhile, is likely to stay compact defensively and rely on quick transitions through Kudus, Nuamah, and Semenyo. Their physicality and pace could pose problems for England on the counterattack.

With both teams entering the match on three points, the winner would take a significant step toward qualification, making for an open and entertaining contest.

Prediction: England 2-1 Ghana
