Rabat – On Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy in Rabat shared a Facebook video of the U.S. Ambassador to Morocco, Dwight L. Bush Sr., wishing “best wishes to all those who are celebrating the blessed month of Ramadan.”

In the 1:33 minute long video, Bush explains the components of Ramadan, saying that the holiday is, “a time for reflection, fasting, and devotion.”

“On behalf of the American people, I wish you a blessed month full of the joys of family and friends. Ramadan Kareem.”…

“It is also an occasion when Muslims around the world reaffirm their commitment to helping the less fortunate and abide by the highest values and principles despite the hardships of fasting,” he adds.

Toward the end of the message, the U.S. Ambassador includes a reflection on his time in Morocco, during which he “witnessed firsthand the wonderful people— men and women, rural and urban, young entrepreneurs and civil service— driven by a strong desire to help their country,” and a declaration of co-existence between the U.S. and Morocco, saying that, “I am convinced that our shared values can help bond people of different faiths together and that the spirit of peace, justice, and equality will prevail.”

Bush ends his greeting with a wish for “the joys of family, community, peace, and understanding,” and a “Ramadan Kareem” for his Muslim followers.

The Illinois native was appointed to the position in March 2014 by U.S. President Barack Obama.
