Rabat, September 10, 2012 (MAP)

Morocco and Spain lauded excellent bilateral ties and the close consultations at the different regional and international bodies, as well as the visits by high-ranking officials from both countries.

This came in a meeting, Monday in Rabat, between minister delegate for foreign affairs Youssef Amrani and Spanish state secretary for foreign affairs Gonzalo De Benito.

Following the meeting, which is part of the permanent political dialogue between Morocco and Spain, the two ministers reiterated, in a joint statement, the two governments’ commitment to building solid and exemplary relations based on mutual trust and shared responsibility to start a model of partnership in the Mediterranean.

Gonzalo De Benito reaffirmed the Spanish government’s esteem for HM King Mohammed VI who expressed, in the Throne speech in July 2012, Morocco’s solidarity with Spain in this difficult economic juncture and its commitment to encouraging the emergence of new economic conditions propitious for wealth creation.

The Spanish official hailed the major accomplishments achieved by Morocco to uphold democracy according to a vision that unites democratic achievement, economic openness and human development.

The two parties surveyed several regional and international issues of shared interest.
