Damascus, January 2, 2012 (MAP)

The Moroccan delegation taking part in the Arab League’s delegation of observers in Syria categorically denied that Talaâ Saoud Atlassi, a member of the delegation, has told TV channels about the presence of snipers in Deraa (Southern Syria).

Atlassi was not in the venue where the statement was given to the TV channels, a source from the Moroccan delegation told MAP, adding that Atlassi was carrying out a mission somewhere else.

The statements ascribed to Atlassi were given by another Arab League observer, the same source added.

The Moroccan delegation, led by Ambassador to Nouakchott Abderrahmane Benomar, is composed of jurists and military and security experts.
