Rabat – Four years after clinching gold in the 400m (T47) at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Moroccan world champion Ayoub Sadni is gearing up for a strong performance at the Paris 2024 Games. His main objective is to return to the top of the podium.
Sadni, renowned for his record-setting performances and raising the national flag on the global stage, faces the challenge of matching his previous success in the Tokyo Olympics.
According to reports, he is currently in recovery from an injury and is diligently following a revised training program designed by his coach.
“The preparations are moving forward systematically,” Sadni noted to MAP. “Due to my injury, I had to adjust my training routine. As I recover, I’m gradually intensifying my workouts to regain my former pace.”
In a recent update to the same source, he also shared that he has fully recovered from a knee injury that had kept him sidelined for three months, largely thanks to the medical team’s efforts.
“I am now in excellent shape and aiming for a new Paralympic medal and record,” he said.

Mohamed Sandaoui, Sadni’s coach and a national technician, acknowledged the challenges this year due to Sadni’s injury.
Despite these hurdles, the support from the technical staff of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities (FRMSPSH) has reportedly been instrumental in helping Sadni return to form. Training sessions have been conducted in Spain, Germany, and Belgium to aid his recovery.
Sadni set a world record at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and continued to impress in 2022 with a new world record at a Grand Prix event in France. In 2023, at the World Championships in Paris, he achieved a remarkable time of 46.78, surpassing his own previous world record.
For the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, Morocco will be represented by 38 athletes across various sports, including para-athletics for motor and visual impairments, wheelchair tennis, para-powerlifting, para-taekwondo, para-road cycling, and blind football.
With a well-rounded delegation across multiple sports, Morocco’s participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games highlights the country’s dedication to endorsing and honoring the accomplishments of disabled athletes on the global stage.
