Rabat – Kylian Mbappe, the French football star who recently signed with Real Madrid, has filed a formal complaint with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The dispute centers around a substantial financial claim amounting to 55 million euros, which Mbappe alleges is owed to him by PSG.

According to Le Monde, the sum Mbappe seeks includes 36 million euros related to the final installment of a signing bonus, three months’ worth of unpaid salaries (April, May, and June), and an additional “ethical bonus” associated with these months.

The issue stemmed from negotiations surrounding Mbappe’s departure from PSG, the report added. The player left the club at the end of his contract in June 2024, moving to Real Madrid.

Prior to his departure, an agreement was reached where Mbappe reportedly agreed to forgo a significant portion of his bonuses—estimated between 60 to 70 million euros—as part of a deal to facilitate his exit without a transfer fee. This concession was intended to offset the financial impact of his free transfer, France 24 reported.

However, complications arose with the non-payment of the remaining portion of his signing bonus and salary, prompting Mbappe to seek redress through official channels. Le Monde reported that the player has also involved UEFA in the dispute via the French Football Federation (FFF).

In response to the claim, PSG has not provided a detailed public statement, but a source close to the club has indicated that negotiations are progressing positively. The source told AFP that discussions are ongoing and that the club has yet to receive formal communication from either the LFP or the FFF.

“Things are much more positive behind the scenes and the ongoing discussions have been constructive for many months … the player knows what he has committed to, both publicly and privately,” AFP quoted the source as saying.
