Marrakech – A vast fake artisan mafia network, with connections to a clan in Morocco, has allegedly claimed more than 1,000 victims in Switzerland and neighboring countries, according to reports from Swiss media.
The criminal network allegedly pocketed several million Swiss francs through its fraudulent activities.
According to the gathered information, the trail leads to two German brothers who have close ties with a clan based in Morocco.
Their modus operandi involved creating highly visible websites offering emergency services such as plumbing, locksmithing, or pest control. These sites displayed local phone numbers to reassure potential customers.
Once contacted by a client, a supposed artisan would visit the home to allegedly solve the problem but then charge exorbitant amounts while pressuring the client to pay immediately in cash.
More than 1,000 people have reportedly fallen victim to this scheme in Switzerland and bordering countries.
The Swiss authorities have not yet commented on this matter or on the possible collaboration with their Moroccan counterparts.
