Rabat – An orange-level weather alert announced today that strong wind is expected to impact several provinces in the two coming days.
The General Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said in the alert that strong wind gusts ranging from 70 to 80 kilometers per hour are forecast to affect several northern and southern regions.
The alert specifically covers the provinces and prefectures of Al Hoceima, Tetouan, M’diq-Fnideq, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Taza, and Tiznit, according to the alert.
The wind gusts are predicted to pick up between 6 a.m to 9 p.m local time on Monday.
On Tuesday, the weather will intensify, with even stronger winds predicted from 6 a.m to 7 p.m.
Wind speeds are expected to reach between 75 and 95 kilometers per hour, and will extend to an even broader range of provinces, including Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taourirt, Berkane, Oujda-Angad, Driouch, Nador, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Jerada, Figuig, Taza, and Boulemane.
Residents in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions, secure loose outdoor objects, and stay informed about local weather updates.
The weather alert comes a week after severe winter conditions gripped several regions, particularly Northern provinces and the Atlas mountains.
The Ministry of the Interior has launched a comprehensive emergency response targeting 872,000 residents across 2,014 remote villages in 28 provinces to ensure safety during the unstable weather.
