Rabat– Rabat’s tourism sector is experiencing a strong year in 2024, marked by a notable increase in overnight stays. According to the Tourism Observatory, the number of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) rose by 4% during the first ten months of the year.
By the end of October, the Moroccan capital had recorded 713,566 overnight stays, surpassing the 683,910 stays recorded during the same period in 2023, the observatory indicated.
While the total number of overnight stays has risen, the occupancy rate in these establishments slightly decreased, standing at 52% this year compared to 53% in 2023.
October alone saw a significant boost in overnight stays, with 86,814 recorded, representing a 10% increase from the 79,153 stays in October 2023. The occupancy rate for the month also improved, reaching 58%, up from 57% in the same period last year.

The Rabat-Sale airport notably witnessed a substantial increase in passenger arrivals, with a 42% rise in the first ten months of 2024. The airport welcomed 514,567 arrivals by the end of October, compared to 362,518 in the same period in 2023.
On a national level, Morocco’s classified tourist accommodation establishments recorded a 10% increase, with over 24.1 million overnight stays during the first ten months of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023.
As the year concludes, Morocco’s tourism industry is celebrating a major milestone, with 15.9 million tourist arrivals recorded by the end of November 2024, according to the Ministry of Tourism. This marks a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2023, with 2.6 million more visitors contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.
The rise is largely attributed to a surge in international visitors, which increased by 23%, adding 1.5 million arrivals. Moroccan Residents Abroad (MRE) also played a significant role, showing a 17% growth and bringing an additional 1.1 million tourists to the country.
