Rabat – Football fans across Morocco, Spain, and Portugal are sitting tight for the big decision as FIFA announces today who is hosting the 2030 and 2034 World Cups.

The conference kicks off at 3 p.m. Moroccan time. Fans can catch the action on BeIN Sports News, and Arriyadia.

Morocco, Spain, and Portugal are in contention to host the 2030 World Cup, with three opening games in South America to mark the 100th anniversary of the World Cup. It’s the first time a World Cup tournament spans three continents.

Saudi Arabia is bidding for the 2034 World Cup and is building 12 new stadiums to host the expanded 48-team format after other countries dropped out of the race.

FIFA doesn’t choose World Cup hosts at random. The football body uses a system to check how read a country is. This system looks at key criteria such as stadiums, transport, and accommodation. Ratings from FIFA inspectors decide if a country meets the requirements.

Stadiums hold the most importance. FIFA looks for venues that meet safety and seating capacity requirements, with modern features including VAR technology.

Transport is another key factor. FIFA verifies if fans and teams can move easily between cities. Airports, trains, and roads need to have suitable infrastructure as well. Accommodation offerings and their accessibility are another measure.

In addition, FIFA ensures the hosting country has high-quality fields and training areas for teams. These facilities should be easy to reach from where teams stay.

General infrastructure is just as important. This includes electricity, water, and communication networks. A country must show it can handle the pressure of hosting a global event.

Stability also matters as FIFA seeks to ensure the country is politically and economically stable. Hosting a World Cup is expensive, and FIFA needs to be sure the host can manage the cost.

Morocco’s infrastructure has improved a lot in recent years and has come far since its earlier bids in 2006 and 2010.
