Rabat – Moroccan footballers across Europe and beyond have impressed last weekend. Goals, assists, and standout performances – they had it all. Here is the MWN Sports lineup for the Team of the Week:
Munir Mohamedi has been a standout performer since he signed a record deal for RS Berkane during the summer transfers. Berkanis are proving they’re serious contenders for a historic Botola league title.
They lead the league with 26 points by a massive eight-point margin. Their attack is the second-best with 14 goals, and their defence is the strongest, conceding just five.
Achraf Hakimi won Man of the Match for PSG last weekend. He wore the captain’s armband, set up the first goal, and bossed the game in a 3-0 win over Toulouse. Zakaria Aboukhlal fought hard for the opposition but couldn’t break through PSG’s wall.
Noussair Mazraoui is adapting fast at Manchester United under the new manager Ruben Amorim. Against Ipswich Town on Sunday, the right-back by craft looked sharp and solid in the back three alongside De Ligt and Evans. He was the most accurate passer in the match, played five accurate long balls out of nine, won 67% of ground duels, and 71% of aerial duels. A deflection off his head led to Ipswich’s equalizer, but his overall performance, rated 7.7, was top-notch.
Adam Masina scored his first goal for Torino in a 1-1 draw against Monza. His 59th-minute header was a beauty, but the 11th-placed Italian side couldn’t hold the lead. Adam was rated 8.0
Zakaria El Ouahdi was all over the pitch in Genk’s 3-0 win over Charleroi. EL Ouahdi was a standout performer with some perfect passes, strong defending, and clever play. He was rated 7.9
Benjamin Bouchoari stole the show in Saint-Étienne’s 1-0 win over Montpellier. His precise strike in the 47th minute was the difference and was rated 7.8. Teammate Yunis Abdelhamid also impressed with a strong 90-minute performance.
Azzedine Ounahi pulled the strings in midfield during Panathinaikos’ 2-1 win. He created four chances and was the most accurate passer in the game before coming off late in the 77th minute. His 8.2 match rating says it all.
Sofiane Diop lit up Ligue 1 with another top display for Nice. The Moroccan star grabbed an assist in his side’s 2-1 win over Strasbourg, earning a spot in L’Équipe’s Team of the Week. It’s his second assist this season, adding to two goals in nine games.
Eliesse Ben Seghir had a big game playing as a right winger for Monaco in their 3-2 win over Brest. He set up the opening goal in the 5th minute for Maghnes Akliouche and pushed through a painful injury. Eliesse created three big chances and was the most accurate crosser and dribbler in the game. He was rated 7.8.
Karim El Berkaoui stole the show for Al-Raed on Saturday, netting twice in their win over Al-Orobah in the Saudi League. The striker has now hit 60 goal contributions in 107 games, with 53 goals and 7 assists to his name.
Ayoub El Kaabi netted a stunning hat-trick for Olympiacos in their win over AEK Athens, taking his season tally to 14 goals in 16 games. He’s now the league’s top scorer and a true fan favourite.
