Rabat – Sixteen-year-old Moroccan alpinist Youssef Tazi wants to become the youngest Moroccan, Arab, and African to reach the Everest Summit by 2027.

The alpinist shared his ambition in a statement today, announcing his grand project to reach the summit of Everest at the age of 18.

“This project carries an important sporting, human, and national dimension, and aims to be a source of inspiration for Moroccan and African youth,” the statement said, noting that the alpinist began his mountain adventures at the age of 4.

He has been accompanied and guided in this endeavor by his father, Omar Tazi.

Over the past nine years, the alpinist has climbed over 50 summits in Morocco as well as international heights, including Mount Ararat in Turkey – which is the highest point of the country.

His completed projects also include Mount Kilimanjaro of Tanzania, the highest point of Africa, and Mount Elbrus in Russia, the highest point of Europe.

Tazi, whose motto is “impossible is not Moroccan,” aims to follow in the footsteps of young alpinists who climbed Everest at an early age. The list includes Jordan Romero – who reached the summit at the age of 13 years and 1 months, Lamavatah Poorna from India, who completed the challenge at the age of 13 years and 11 months, and Ming Kipa from Nepal, who climbed the intimidating mount at the age of 15.

In his statement, Youssef emphasized that he is now looking for partners and sponsors wishing to associate their image with his Everest project.

This announcement comes months after the young alpinist said last year that his son was ambitious and determined to conquer the highest peaks and overcome all challenges with his exceptional talent in mountaineering, despite his young age.

For the father, this boundless passion and love are Youssef’s ultimate driver and motivation as he looks to reach new heights in this demanding journey of sacrifice and sustained dedication to his ambitious goals.
