Rabat – Japan’s ambassador to Morocco Kuramitsu Hideaki has reiterated his country’s determination to boost ties with Rabat at all levels.

“Japan has already endeavored to strengthen its relations with Morocco on several levels and will continue to actively work towards even closer cooperation,” the ambassador said in a new interview with Les Inspiration Eco outlet.

In the interview, which was picked up by Moroccan news agency MAP, Hideaki emphasized Japan’s commitment towards bilateral ties with Morocco, describing them as an “important partner” for Japanese diplomacy.

The diplomat emphasized that the development of the economic ties between the two countries  has been remarkable, noting that over 70 Japanese companies are operating in Morocco and creating approximately 50,000 jobs.

Commenting on Morocco’s strategic geographical location as a gateway between Africa and Europe, the ambassador pointed out that the country continues to strengthen its comparative advantage as a “hub and center for production and logistics” linking the African continent to different countries and regions.

“We are always looking for win-win partnerships, and my country wishes to continue supporting Morocco in several priority sectors, including maritime fishing, health, port development, and drinking water,” he added. “These are the same areas listed in the Japanese repayable and non repayable financial cooperation project list.”

Japan and Morocco share good diplomatic ties at different levels, and  both countries are determined to continue to strengthen relations and expand areas of cooperation.

Last year in September, the Japanese government spoke to these “excellent relations,” remarking that they are formed on the basis of  “solid ties of friendship between the Japanese imperial family and the Moroccan royal family.”

Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita has also commended the ties of friendship between the two countries and expressed Morocco’s willingness to deepen cooperation in new sectors, including in dialogue and trade.
