Rabat- Hezbollah has declared that it unleashed “dozens of rockets” targeting Israeli artillery positions as a response to recent Israeli military strikes in southern Lebanon. This assault marks one of Hezbollah’s most significant actions since the onset of the war in Gaza.
In a statement released late on Friday, the Iran-aligned Lebanese armed group affirmed its launch of multiple Katyusha rockets aimed at artillery positions in northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights.
Hezbollah fighters declared they had targeted “enemy artillery positions… with dozens of Katyusha rockets,” adding the move was “in response to the enemy’s attacks on… southern villages and civilian homes.”
The rockets triggered alarms in multiple communities across Upper Galilee in northern Israel, with air defense missiles engaging the incoming projectiles.
The Israeli military reported: “40 launches were identified from Lebanese territory, some of which were intercepted. The rest fell in open areas.”
In a report, Al Jazeera described Hezbollah’s retaliatory strikes as “a large number of rockets and drones, one of the biggest barrages of the war so far in Gaza.”

In the wake of the latest Hezbollah attack, global attention shifts to the looming possibility of an Iranian strike against Israel. Many observers and world leaders expect Iran to soon retaliate to a recent airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of seven Iranian armed forces members, including two high-ranking generals overseeing operations in Lebanon and Syria.
Israeli military officials have issued statements expressing readiness for a potential Iranian attack. Foreign Minister Israel Katz has warned Iran against using its territory as a base for attacks, affirming Israel’s resolve to retaliate within Iranian borders if necessary.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has underscored Israel’s commitment to defending itself, emphasizing cooperation with “our partners,” particularly the United States, both on the ground and in the air.
The state-run National News Agency of Lebanon has reported Israeli airstrikes targeting several border villages. As per an AFP count, the ongoing violence has resulted in the deaths of at least 363 individuals in Lebanon, with the majority being Hezbollah fighters and around 70 civilians.
Meanwhile, in Israel, the military has confirmed the loss of 10 soldiers and eight civilians to Hezbollah strikes. The conflict has forced tens of thousands of civilians to flee their homes on both sides of the border.
