This visit served as a cornerstone of bilateral collaboration, centered on the inclusion and support of children with hearing impairments.
Recognized as a continental benchmark in the field of audiology and inclusive education, the Lalla Asmaa Foundation presented its comprehensive model for supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing children, integrating advanced medical care, rehabilitation, specialized schooling, psychosocial support, and family training.
The First Lady of El Salvador was introduced to various spaces within the Foundation, including the educational greenhouse, recreational workshops in pottery, diorama, and sculpting, as well as classrooms for English and American Sign Language instruction.
A highlight of the visit included the unveiling of a new robot designed to assist in sign language education and the demonstration of an innovative artificial intelligence platform aimed at enhancing speech therapy.
This cutting-edge application supports speech therapists in assessment and follow-up, while also providing interactive resources for families, fostering the linguistic and cognitive development of children through a scientifically grounded approach.
In line with the Foundation’s humanitarian mission, it was announced that twenty Salvadoran children with hearing disabilities will benefit from Morocco’s medical expertise, joining over 800 Moroccan beneficiaries and 240 children from 21 African and Middle Eastern nations who have received assistance through the NASMAA Program since its inception in 2002.
This milestone attests to the growing international scope of the Foundation’s action.
The visit also reaffirmed the Foundation’s strategic partnerships, including a collaboration with Gallaudet University in Washington, a world-renowned institution in higher education for the deaf.
This partnership encompasses academic exchange, joint research, and curriculum development. Furthermore, the First Lady of El Salvador was briefed on three pivotal agreements signed by the Foundation in June, aimed at promoting digital inclusion, professional integration, and scientific cooperation.
Upon their arrival at the Foundation, Princess Lalla Asmaa and the First Lady Rodríguez de Bukele reviewed a detachment of the Auxiliary Forces before being welcomed by a delegation of senior government ministers, members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, regional and local elected officials, and civil society representatives.
This royal and diplomatic engagement reflects Morocco’s steadfast commitment, under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI, to advancing South-South cooperation, promoting inclusive development, and fostering solidarity-based partnerships with nations across continents.
