Rabat – In one of the most anticipated games of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria will lock horns with five-time champion Cameroon at the Round of 16 stage.
The game will be played today at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium at 9 p.m. Moroccan Time, and the broadcasting will go live on Nigeria’s AfroSport, beIN Sport, CANAL+, and Ghana’s GTV.
Nigeria qualified for the Round of 16 after two wins and one draw during the group stage matches. The team’s first game ended in a draw against Equatorial Guinea 1-1, while the other two 1-0 wins were overand Guinea-Bissau the host Cote d’Ivoire.
Considering Cameroon’s wealth of experience in the African Cup, the Indomitable Lions’ debut in this year’s edition was less satisfying than what was expected.
The Lions’ first encounter with the Guinean National Elephants ended with a surprising 1-1 draw, coming off of a 1-3 defeat to defending champion Senegal. These performances cast doubt on Cameroonian fans about their qualification for this year’s competition.
Fortunately, Cameroon managed to regain its strength in the last game against Gambia to achieve a hard-earned win of 3-2.
