Rabat – Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau face off today in the second matchday of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. Moroccan Time,  with the two teams convening at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe.

Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Football, BBC iPlayer, and BBC Three will broadcast the game today.

Coming from a 1-1 draw in its opening match against Nigeria, the Equatorial Guinean team will seek to secure a win in its second group stage match to increase its points to 4.

On the other hand, Guinea-Bissau will try to recover from its 2-0 loss to the host nation Cote d’Ivoire and catch up with the competitive rhythm.

According to the Egyptian daily Ahram Online, the Equatorial Guinean head coach Juan Micha dedicated much of his pre-match press conference to voicing confidence in his team’s potential to build on their encouraging opening game to do well in the tournament.

“Our mission is far from over; there is still much work to be done,” Micha stated, emphasizing that “we are just getting started. Our aim is to progress to the next stage, and then we will assess our options.”

For his part, Coach Baciro Cande of Guinea-Bissau told CAF a few days before the kick-off of the continental event that his team’s goal is to make it to the knock-out stage.

“Our goal is to finally get past the first round. It’s true that our group is very tough with opponents like Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Equatorial Guinea, but anything is possible in football, anything is possible,” Cande stressed.
