Rabat – Morocco’s tourism revenues reached MAD 97.4 billion ($9.8 billion) at the end of November, an increase of 15.8% compared to a year earlier.

The Exchange Office said today that Morocco attracted 13.2 million tourists as of November and revenues from the sector jumped from MAD 84.12 billion ($8.5 billion) to MAD 97.4 billion.

According to the office, the revenues exceeded the level reached in the first 11 months in 2019, when the sector generated MAD 72.8 billion ($7.3 billion).

Due to COVID-19, the sector witnessed a significant decline in 2020 and 2021 to MAD 31.7 billion ($3.1 billion) and MAD 32.5 billion ($3.2 billion) respectively.

Last year witnessed a robust tourism sector, generating a revenue of MAD 84.12 billion ($8.5 billion) as of November.

Morocco has been renewing its determination to attract as many tourists as possible in the coming years. Morocco’s goal is to surpass 14 million tourists by the end of December.

The North African country is close to achieving this goal as 13.2 million tourists had already flocked to the North African country in November.

This represents an increase of 36% compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Tourism said.

The ministry, in its statement, indicated that this number exceeded the level achieved throughout the entire year of 2019, when it reached 12.9 million.
