Rabat — Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita renewed Rabat’s rejection of Israel’s “unacceptable measures” and ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
Bourita made his remarks during the Arab League Council meeting in Cairo, where he reiterated Morocco’s commitment toward peace as a strategy to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Recalling King Mohammed VI’s vision, Bourita said that Morocco will continue to leverage its prominent place on regional and international stages to create favorable conditions for a return to the negotiating table. This is the only path to end the conflict and ensure security and stability in the Middle East.
Renewing calls for an immediate ceasefire, Bourita reaffirmed Morocco’s appeal to open all crossing points to allow the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid and relief operations in Gaza, which has been subjected to genocidal and starvation war since October 7, 2023.
He said that King Mohammed VI ordered the establishment of a humanitarian airlift to Gaza to deliver nearly 300 tons of food, medical supplies, and relief aid, transported through unprecedented routes.
He also appealed for support for UNRWA and its role in serving civilians, reiterating the demand for an urgent intervention to stop Israeli aggressions across Palestinian territories, like the West Bank.
Morocco’s foreign minister also cited Israel’s other war crimes, like the demolition of homes and the displacement of civilians to areas under Israeli security control.
Morocco also welcomed the growing international momentum in favor of recognizing the State of Palestine, recalling the increased support for the two-state solution as the most rational and realistic option to preserve regional balance.
He recalled the recent 5th meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, an event that took place on May 20 in Rabat in partnership with the Netherlands.
Bourita said the event concluded by providing a “valuable contribution” to the high-level international conference held in New York.
Beyond Palestine, Bourita also discussed the development that concerned bilateral ties between Syria and Morocco.
He recalled the reopening of Morocco’s embassy in Damascus to contribute to strengthening and developing ties between the two countries and their peoples.
In his speech, he renewed Morocco’s support for Syria in managing its current political phase and guaranteed security and stability to preserve its unity and territorial integrity.
