Rabat — As the Israeli war machine continues to claim the lives of civilians in Gaza, US President Donald Trump insists Hamas should accept the terms of his ceasefire proposal.

The US president has put forward a new proposal that includes the immediate release of all Israeli hostages and the start of negotiations for a comprehensive ceasefire.

An Axios report with two Israeli officials indicates that the proposal will entail the release of all 48 remaining Israeli captives in exchange for a ceasefire and the end of the Israeli operation to fully control Gaza.

Reportedly, Israel is to release 2500-3000 Palestinian prisoners, including hundreds serving life sentences.

The deal implies that, once declared, the ceasefire will pave the way for negotiations on how to “end the war.” The proposal also refers to Israel’s demand for Hamas’ disarmament as mandatory for Israeli Occupation Forces’ (IOF) withdrawal from Gaza.

The new proposal suggests that if Hamas rejects the initiative, it risks a “large-scale Israeli operation in Gaza.”

Israel’s closest ally, Donald Trump, said that the US is “working on a solution that may be very good.” He said that the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the unreleased Israeli hostages are a “hell of a problem.”

“It’s a problem we want to solve for the Middle East, for Israel, for everybody. But it’s a problem we’re going to get done,” he said.

He optimistically shared that the world will “be hearing about it pretty soon. We’re trying to get it [genocide] ended, get the hostages back.”

Assuming that Israel has accepted the terms of the new proposal, Trump said “it is time for Hamas to accept as well.”

“This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”

Palestinian group Hamas confirmed it received “ideas” from the Trump Administration. “Hamas welcomes any initiative that helps in the efforts to stop the aggression against our people.”

The group also showed readiness to sit at the negotiations table and discuss terms, including the exchange of hostages and the end of IOF’s offensives.

Israel has made no comment.
