Rabat – Elias Ben Seghir has stressed the importance of the two upcoming friendly matches against Bahrain and the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of the Atlas Lions’ preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Ben Seghir stated, “We know we’re preparing for the upcoming AFCON, and it’s good to play these two matches against Bahrain and Congo. I hope we prepare well for the upcoming challenges.”

The Bayer Leverkusen player added: “We’re trying to give our best with our clubs, and we’re pushing ourselves to the limit because we know how intense the competition is among us, all aiming to win the AFCON. We’re trying to apply what coach Regragui tells us, and I hope we can do that on the pitch”

Ismael Saibari, another Moroccan international, spoke about the friendly against Bahrain and praised his teammate Achraf Hakimi, saying he deserved a better global standing than his current sixth ranking.

“We’ve prepared well, and the World Cup won’t only feature African teams, so it’s good to face Bahrain,” Saibari went on to say.

He continued: “Hakimi deserved better than sixth place. I believe he should be in the top five. Still, we’re very proud of him, and that gives us motivation to replicate what he’s achieved.”

Morocco will play Bahrain today at 8:00 PM in a friendly match at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. On October 14, the Atlas Lions will face Congo at the same venue in their final World Cup qualifier.
