Rabat – As Tunisia gears up for its third group game at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, most sports analysts and websites already predict a loss for the North African team.
Tunisia’s World Cup journey has been marked by heartbreaking defeats for its people, the Carthage Eagles losing their first two games against Sweden and Japan.
The Japanese side, one of the biggest surprises of this tournament, defeated Tunisia 4-0, while Sweden crushed the Tunisian football team 5-1.
Tunisia is practically eliminated from the tournament following its two defeats, and distressed Tunisian fans are already questioning why their weak national team had to go to the World Cup, if it was only to get humiliated.
Tunisia notably sacked Sabri Lamouchi after the team’s opening defeat against Sweden. They announced Hervé Renard as a replacement, but he did so little to prevent Japan’s 4-0 win against the visibly unprepared and disorganized Eagles.
Renard emphasized that it is not the performance that the 4-0 dismantling was not the performance his team was hoping for in their second outing.
“The score of this second match is heavy, but it reflects the difference between the two teams tonight,” he said.
He added that despite the elimination, his side still has a third game to play to restore some pride to their ranks.
“We are in a World Cup, and we must remain focused. It is important to get ready to fight for this third game against the Netherlands,” Renard added following his team’s defeat to Japan
Now Tunisia faces another challenging test, with predictions seeing the Oranje team winning the match by at least 3-1.
The game is at 12 a.m. Moroccan time tonight.
Tunisia’s expected lineup could feature Dahmen, Bronn, Arous, Talbi, Valery, Ben Slimane, Skhiri, Abdi, Hannibal, Gharbi, and Tounekti.
The Dutch are meanwhile expected to deploy Verbruggen, Dumfries, Van Dijk, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, De Jong, Gravenberch, Reijnders, Malen, Depay, and Gakpo.
