Rabat — The fire victim from Al Hoceima succumbed to injuries today in Tangier, after several days in intensive care. 

Last week, viral videos showed a horrific attack involving a man setting someone else on fire, while engaged in a fight that was reportedly over personal issues in Al Hoceima. The victim is an artist with special needs and a motor disability. 

The man was transferred to Tangier University Hospital Center with third-degree burns to receive intensive treatment.

The horrific incident has left sadness on the part of his family, friends, and fans, who paid tribute to him with moving words on social media while demanding the maximum punishment for the perpetrator of the heinous crime.

Authorities have already launched an investigation following the incident.

An official statement indicated that police arrested the suspect and placed him in custody while investigators work to determine the circumstances and motives behind the act, which remain unclear.

The public prosecutor’s office confirmed that legal measures will be taken once the ongoing investigation concludes.

The heinous act sparked public concern on social media, as netizens asked for clarification on the suspect’s background and the circumstances of the crime.
