aRabat – Wednesday evening, the streets of Rabat came alive as thousands of fans celebrated Morocco U20 national football team — the newly-crowned world champions.
The Atlas Cubs were welcomed home with a big parade through the capital, where fans waved Moroccan flags, singing and cheering in a sea of red and green for hours.
The parade started around 6:30 p.m., with the players on open-top buses along Avenue Mohammed V and Bab Essoufara. Supporters were on every corner, unquestionably chanting as the team held up the trophy for Morocco’s first-ever FIFA U-20 World Cup title.
Earlier in the day, the team was received at a royal ceremony in Rabat, under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and presided over by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan. The players thanked the King for his continuous support and encouragement of Moroccan youth.
Morocco U20 players’ gratitude
Morocco won the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile beating Argentina 2–0 in the final on October 19. It was a historic win after years of work from coaches, players and the Moroccan Football Federation.
Subsequently, Team captain Houssam Essadak was over the moon and proud of the Lion Cubs, saying it was the fruit of long and dedicated work by all components of the national squad.
Othmane Maamma, awarded best player of the tournament, added that this victory will be a powerful motivation to win more titles and consolidate Morocco’s position among the big footballing nations.
Moreover, Maamma was proud of the whole team’s efforts to win this world title. He said “I am proud of the team’s historic achievement. We worked hard to bring the trophy home.”
Yassine Gessime, another breakout star of the World Cup, was happy with the welcome the team received. He said: “Our goal is not to stop here. We are determined to keep working hard to win many more trophies.”
The Rabat celebration with the royal reception and the parade was a big national moment. Altogether, the young champions were being honored for the trophy and for representing a generation that continues to raise the Moroccan flag high.
