Rabat – The National Office of Tourism of Morocco (ONMT) joined forces with American streaming giant, Netflix to promote golf in Morocco.

The partnership, which is the first of its kind, aims to cement the brand “Morocco, Land of Light” as an international destination for golf, by leveraging the strength of the global leader Netflix, ONMT said in a statement.

The initiative is part of the agency’s partnership with the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation. The partnership aims to position Morocco as a world-class golf tourism destination, the statement explains.

The Netflix-ONMT partnership covers several actions, including an initial collaboration to integrate the Morocco brand into the Netflix Cup held on November 14-15, 2023.

The event marks Netflix’s first live sporting event which is set to feature Formula 1 drivers playing with PGA tour golfers.

Held at “The Wynn Golf Club, Las Vegas,” the competition saw sports icons forming six duos compete during the kick-off of the most anticipated event of the season, “The F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.”

The statement also explains that Morocco is the official destination promoted in the event, with golf courses featuring the “Visit Morocco” branding.

Netflix, which currently boasts 247 million subscribers, has mobilized the necessary resources to maximize viewers’ exposure to the event.

The ONMT also planned an annual communication strategy on the new “Netflix Ad-Supported” offering, aiming to ensure a continuous presence for Morocco as a destination and its various brands.

Through the partnership, the agency says that it will continue to implement its “Light in Action” action plan, aiming to bolster marketing efforts to promote Morocco as a world-class tourism destination.
