Rabat — Morocco’s capital city of Rabat is hosting today Kenya’s Economic Promotion Week in Morocco, aiming to display the East African country’s economic potential and forge win-win business partnerships between the two countries’ operators across multiple sectors.

The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) hosted the opening meeting in Rabat. Mohamed Methqal, the agency’s ambassador and director general, met with a high-level Kenyan economic delegation visiting Morocco from November 10 to 16.

The initiative reflects Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to advancing the North African country’s economic diplomacy across Africa, as it is working through AMCI and its partners to support continental business development.

Throughout the week, the Kenyan delegation will hold meetings in three Moroccan cities, namely Rabat, Casablanca, and Laayoune.

The schedule includes sessions with public institutions and private sector operators, among them the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and several industry federations.

Key meetings will also take place with the Professional Association of Moroccan Banks (GPBM), Casablanca Finance City and its business ecosystem, and the Regional Investment Center (CRI) in Laayoune.

Carole Kariuki, director of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), and Onditi Kennedy, national director of the Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, lead the Kenyan delegation, along with several senior officials from both Kenya’s public and private sectors.

The week-long program marks a significant step in strengthening economic relations between the two African countries, opening new channels for trade and investment cooperation.
