Rabat – Morocco’s National Tourist Office (ONMT) introduced yesterday the world to its Moroccan Pavillion on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that kicked off on Monday in Marrakech.
The 900-square meter pavilion’s goal is to showcase Morocco’s cultural diversity to the 14,000 participants of the event, which hosts several panels to discuss themes like climate change, economy, and migration among others.
In a statement, the tourism office said that ONMT aims to highlight Moroccan culture and its ancestry heritage as well as its achievements in different fields under King Mohammed VI’s leadership.
The statement added that the space offers an “unprecedented immersive journey” to allow visitors to explore Morocco’s universe through different themes, including “Morocco, a land of confluence,” “Morocco, a land of light,” and “Morocco, a land of opportunities.”
ONMT explained: “These three themes aim to create three desires: To get to know Morocco, to live in Morocco, and to invest in Morocco.”
Built in partnership with Morocco’s Football Federation, the Pavillon is also aimed at celebrating Moroccan football, the statement noted, recalling the Atlas Lions’ historic achievements at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
This celebration of Moroccan football also aims to put a spotlight on FIFA’s decision to select Spain, Morocco, and Portugal as the joint hosts of the 2023 World Cup.
With key objectives such as doubling the number of tourists by 2030, the ONMT is part of the institutions working to boost Morocco’s tourism industry.
Morocco welcomed 10.2 million people in the first eight months of this year, representing an increase of 49% compared to the same period last year.
