Agadir – Oracle has announced the opening of its first public cloud region in Morocco, becoming the first hyperscaler to establish a full-scale cloud presence in North Africa.

The new Oracle Cloud region, located in Casablanca, will enable Moroccan organizations, from startups to government agencies, to leverage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for advanced AI, analytics, and cloud computing capabilities. The region is hosted in partnership with N+ONE Datacenters.

“The opening of our cloud region in Casablanca is a major milestone in our commitment to supporting Morocco’s growth and its position as a regional hub for AI and digital innovation,” said Cormac Watters, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle EMEA.

“With Oracle Cloud Casablanca Region, we are providing organizations across Morocco and North Africa with the secure, high-performance infrastructure they need to innovate with AI and the cloud, and to compete globally,” Watters added.

According to Oracle, the new Cloud Casablanca region is designed to support public and private entities in modernizing applications, accelerating AI-driven innovation, and ensuring business resilience.

By offering sovereign data hosting and processing within Morocco, the region facilitates the migration of all types of on-premises workloads to OCI.

“This approach addresses sovereignty requirements and ensures compliance with regulations specific to the public, governmental, and highly regulated sectors,” Oracle said

The Casablanca region will provide access to Oracle’s full suite of AI solutions, including the OCI AI Agent Platform, OCI Generative AI Service, and Oracle AI Data Platform.

This infrastructure aligns with the Moroccan government’s Digital Morocco 2030 strategy and will support local startups and investors in AI development, training, and inference.

The 2030 digital strategy is a national roadmap aimed at accelerating the country’s digital transformation and position it as a regional technology hub.

Oracle plans to expand its presence further with a second public cloud region in Settat.

“Oracle is to help African customers meet a variety of requirements, from privacy and sovereign AI to low latency; it is the only hyperscaler capable of delivering over 200 cloud and AI services across a public cloud, customer data center, hybrid/edge, or multicloud deployment,” Oracle concluded in its press statement.
