Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has notified hajj applicants for the 1445 AH season of a final draw on October 9 and 20.
Following the lottery draw, the ministry will announce the final list of selected pilgrims for pilgrims registered both under the official organization and through tourism agencies.
In addition, the ministry will release a waiting list to replace individuals unable to participate.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, with specific rituals and activities lasting for several days.
It is an obligation for Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey at least once in their lifetime.
Hajj occurs during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, which is the 12th and last month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The sacred pilgrimage is a journey that holds great spiritual importance as it involves rituals that commemorate the actions of Prophet Abraham and his family.
Hajj also represents equality, as pilgrims from diverse backgrounds come together, wearing simple, identical white garments to emphasize the concept of unity and equality before God.
In addition, the holy pilgrimage serves to cleanse the soul, bring worshippers closer to God, and promote empathy for the less fortunate. It fosters a sense of community and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood among Muslims worldwide.
Unlike Hajj, Umrah is a voluntary journey to Mecca that Muslims participate in to get closer to God.
