Rabat – Real Madrid are enduring a disappointing season, having exited both the Champions League and the Copa del Rey while falling behind Barcelona in La Liga.

With the club facing the prospect of finishing a second consecutive season without a trophy, president Florentino Perez is expected to make changes at the end of the campaign.

Spanish reports suggest Perez does not plan to keep Alvaro Arbeloa as head coach next season.

The board is already studying alternatives to restore the team’s winning mentality. Several names have been mentioned, including Jose Mourinho, who enjoys Perez’s backing, and Jurgen Klopp, supported by former midfielder Toni Kroos.

In a recent live broadcast by journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, fans debated possible candidates.

Walid Regragui’s name appeared among the options. The Moroccan coach, who guided his national team to the 2022 World Cup semi‑finals, has earned wide respect in Spain for his tactical discipline and ability to build team spirit.

Journalist Joaquin Maroto noted that Madrid’s management values Regragui’s work, especially his success in creating unity and instilling a fighting mentality.

These qualities have not gone unnoticed at the Bernabeu, where officials believe such leadership could benefit the squad.

Although Regragui’s name has been discussed internally,  at times even more than Mourinho’s, he is not considered a primary option right now.

Madrid’s board continues to weigh several possibilities, and the Moroccan coach also has offers from other federations and clubs.

Still, the fact that his profile has entered the conversation shows the growing recognition of his achievements.

Leading Morocco to the World Cup semi‑finals and winning the AFCON were historic moments, and his reputation has since expanded beyond Africa.

In Spain, his work is seen as proof of his ability to manage high‑pressure environments and inspire players to perform above expectations.
