Rabat – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) divisions will contribute MAD 50 million ($4.9 million) to the Special Fund to help deal with the impacts of the earthquake that struck numerous provinces across Morocco.
The DGSN-DGST Pole stated in a press release that its Director General Abdellatif Hammouchi made the choice to make this financial donation, which also has humanitarian and sense of solidarity aspects, on behalf of all of the Pole’s civil personnel.
In line with King Mohammed VI’s directives, the various segments of Moroccan society have begun a campaign of solidarity and mutual aid. The goal is to show their mobilization and support for this initiative as the country mourns its deadliest and strongest earthquake in the past half-century.
In order to ensure the availability of this essential resource and replenish the nation’s blood supply, the DGSN-DGST Pole has started a massive blood donation campaign among its civil workers working in central and regional departments.
This security pole also reaffirmed the accessibility of its numerous services and the deployment of all of its logistical and human resources to uphold public safety and safeguard residents’ property.
It also highlighted the deployment of canine rescue teams and mobile groups with members trained to maintain order and search for disaster victims during rescue and evacuation operations involving multiple national entities.
In order to carry out King Mohammed VI’s instructions, several police patrols and units were also mobilized to serve the security of the nation and its residents, the news release stated.
Michael Martin, the deputy prime minister of the Republic of Ireland, declared a donation of €2 million as part of his nation’s assistance to support Morocco’s relief operations.
