Rabat – Comedian and TV host Conan O’Brien has completed filming in Morocco for the third season of his travel series “Conan O’Brien Must Go.” O’Brien shared a photo on social media showing him and his longtime assistant Sona Movsesian riding camels, joking: “Sona and I are taking Ubers back to the airport. Farewell, Morocco!”
According to writer José Arroyo, who works on the HBO Max series, the Morocco shoot took the crew across several locations including Casablanca, Marrakech, and areas described as “sandy points east.” Arroyo also said O’Brien and Movsesian spent the trip “bantering and bickering like siblings,” adding humor to the production process.
The Morocco segment is part of a larger international filming schedule for Season 3. O’Brien has also filmed in countries such as India, the Philippines, and the Netherlands. While HBO Max has not yet announced the number of episodes or a release date, earlier seasons of the show included three to four episodes.

“Conan O’Brien Must Go” is a travel comedy series. The show grew out of his podcast conversations with fans around the world. In each episode, O’Brien travels to visit listeners he previously spoke with to turn those encounters into comedic and often unpredictable cultural exchanges.
The series mixes travel, interviews, and scripted comedy. O’Brien often explores local customs, meets fans in their own countries, and places himself in awkward or humorous situations while trying to understand different cultures.
Morocco has become a popular location for international film and television productions thanks to its diverse landscapes, historic cities, and strong production infrastructure. The country offers deserts, mountains, and coastal cities all within relatively short distances.
Cities such as Casablanca and Marrakesh are frequently used for filming because they can represent both modern and historic settings. Marrakech’s famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square and surrounding old city are especially popular for capturing vibrant street life and traditional architecture.
Morocco has hosted many major productions over the years. Hollywood films such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation filmed key scenes in the country. The TV series Game of Thrones also used Moroccan locations like Ait Benhaddou and Essaouira to represent fictional cities.
